A dielectric nipple is a single-piece fitting consisting of an electro-zinc coated or stainless steel external casing fitted with a permanent, swaged thermoplastic (PEX/polysulfone) interior liner. It provides a compact, continuous galvanic barrier ideal for water heater inlet and outlet nipples where space is constrained. In contrast, a dielectric union (such as our JN-3014) is a multi-component mechanical joint featuring a union nut, a dielectric gasket, and insulating sleeves. Dielectric unions permit rapid physical disassembly for equipment servicing without cutting or unthreading pipe runs, though they require greater clearance and precise torque calibration during installation.

Our dielectric nipples feature an extended internal barrier design that guarantees at least 1.5 inches of electrical path separation between adjoining piping metals. Furthermore, the thermoplastic sleeve is flared over the outermost rim of the steel nipple, preventing pipe fitters from bottoming out a copper female connector directly against the carbon steel shell. Every production lot undergoes dielectric breakdown resistance testing exceeding 600 Volts DC and 100% pneumatic leak verification at 150 PSI.

Raw materials, tooling, and inspection regimes (CMM coordinate checks, metallurgical spectrometers, salt spray chambers) are synchronized. Third-party documentation issued by IAPMO R&T (listing numbers 6229, 8175, 12307, N-11587, and AB1953) is on record and available for importer regulatory submittals.
